Locked Chests is an addon that adds new chests that you can lock! Keep your items safe from griefers and give a new look to your base!
What chests do this mod offer?
As for 1.0, there are 8 new lockable chest designs. We have made chests with Oak, Birch, Acacia, Spruce, Dark Oak, Jungle, Crimson and Warped wood. This addon also adds a lockable chest with the classic look. All of these chests can be locked and can share the same key!
How do these chests work?
In order to use these chests, first you need to open them, then interact with the black square inside the chest. Interact with the exterior of the chest again to close it! These chests are not blocked by blocks above, if you can reach the black square, you can use the chest.
How do I lock a chest?
It works the same way as Modern Doors. To lock a chest, interact with it while sneaking and with an empty hand. You should see a menu pop up, where you can lock the chest. After clicking on “Lock Chest”, you will be able to select two options: Owner Not Affected by Lock and Allow Chest Access with keys.
“Owner not affected by Lock” lets the owner of the chest open the chest always, without needing a key. It if off by default. “Allow Chest Access with Keys” lets you create keys for the chest, with 4 different materials: Iron, Copper, Gold and Oxidized Copper. You can set a name and a description for the key, and even a custom code if you want a key to be able to open various chests! These can be shared with friends to let them open the chest.
What if someone breaks the chest?
Locked chests are unbreakable! If a chest is both locked and close, nobody can break them, not even with netherite, not even with TNT, your items are safe!
What if a griefer gets a key of my chest?
You can always change the keycode! Navigate to Lock Settings, and either turn off “Allow Chest Access with Keys” in Locking Mechanism, or even better, change the lock!
Can I create more keys for my chest?
Yes, always! Click on Lock Settings, and then select Create Key. You can create up to 20 keys at a time, with no material cost. Remember to put a title or a description!
Beware! Adding another addon that lets players add Lore to items might break the key system and let people copy keys. The only secure addon that can add lore to an item is Lore Anvil, as it has been developed with this in mind.

Crafting
You can find the chests in the Creative menu under Items. You can also get them by using the command "/give @p lc:(this will show the available variants).
Survival:
Just put wood planks like you would normally craft a chest, but add an Iron Nugget in the middle to create a chest from Locked Chests. In case you want the classic design, put a vanilla chest next to an iron nugget in the crafting table (or even your inventory crafting grid!)
